Focus and Scope
Perantau: Journal of Migration, Borders, and Belonging is a peer-reviewed, open-access academic journal committed to publishing high-quality, interdisciplinary scholarship on the diverse and contested terrains of migration, transnationalism, border regimes, and identity politics. The journal particularly foregrounds voices, experiences, and knowledges from Southeast Asia and the Global South.
It aims to bridge scholarly inquiry with grounded realities, offering a platform for research that interrogates power, mobility, and belonging across and within borders. We especially encourage submissions that engage with critical, decolonial, and reflexive approaches.
Topics include, but are not limited to:
-
Migrant workers, precarity, and faith
-
Diaspora, overseas political engagement, and identity politics
-
Border studies and mobility regimes
-
Statelessness, citizenship, and belonging
-
Migration governance and legal pluralism
